She Is a Nomad: On Women Who Wander
Share
A reflection from the House of Woven Stories private community
There's a particular kind of woman who has always fascinated us. She isn't defined by where she lives, but by how she moves through the world. She collects cities the way others collect jewellery, and friendships the way others collect souvenirs. She gets dressed in the morning not to be seen, but to feel like herself.
She is a nomad. And she is the heart of everything we do.
Why We Started This Series
She is a Nomad began as a simple idea: to sit down with the women in our community and ask them the questions that actually matter. Not "what are you wearing," but "what made you you?" Not "where did you buy it," but "where were you when you fell in love with the way you dress?"
Because style, we've come to believe, is never really about clothes. It's about the journeys that shaped the woman wearing them, the city that cracked something open, the friendship that rewired her taste, and the piece of advice from her mother she's been carrying for years.
Each edition, we feature one woman. One story. One edit of the pieces she truly loves.
Volume 01: Ellecia
Our first chapter belongs to Ellecia Knolle, a respected stylist and wardrobe curator based in Texas, whose eye has quietly shaped the way many women in her circle think about getting dressed. Her work is personal, considered, and deeply attuned to the woman in front of her, never about imposing a look, always about uncovering one.
Raised between Texas, the Philippines, and Florida, Ellecia learned early that home is something you carry. Madrid opened her eyes to European style. Paris deepened it. And Zurich, where she first walked into the HONS atelier, gave her a second family.
What we love about Ellecia is her clarity. She dresses for the smile she sees in the mirror, not the approval she might collect outside the door. Her mother once told her, "If I could do things over, I would worry less." Ellecia took it to heart, and you can feel it in the way she carries herself and in the way she dresses the women who trust her.
She is, in every sense, the woman this series was made for.
