Dancing Nomad Stories: Impressions of Expression | Chapter One

Dancing Nomad Stories: Impressions of Expression | Chapter One

"HOWS We Live Culture."
The first evening of Dancing Nomad Stories opened with movement, music, and textiles coming together as one. It was a night that reminded us why we gather. We gather to feel, to share, and to witness how art and fashion can speak without words.

The Night in Motion

Our guests arrived at the Riverside Atelier in the Oederlin Areal. They entered with glasses of white wine and warm conversation. The room held a soft feeling of curiosity. It felt like the beginning of something meaningful.

Act I: When Movement Wakes the Fabric

What unfolded on stage was more than a performance. It was a conversation told through fabric and movement. Clothing became a partner in expression. It shaped emotion and extended every gesture into the air.

Valentina Pedica and David Coria began with two simple garments resting on chairs. As they moved, the garments came alive. The moment they slipped them on, their bodies responded instinctively, as if the fabrics themselves carried a pulse. Their movements shifted into rhythm, guided by an unseen beat, and the room watched them fall into a shared trance.

Valentina wore B SIDES Vintage Lasso Indigo Jeans made from old Levi’s 501s. Each pair carried traces of the past. David wore the Rewoven Bomber by Paiwand, made by hand from reclaimed cotton cuttings. He paired it with Wool Pantaloons by Les Vacances d’Irina. Together, they created a meeting of cultures and crafts from New York to Delhi and from Bucharest to Baden.

Toward the end of the first act, they slowly removed the garments, as if waking from a dream. Their breath settled, their focus returned, and it felt as though they had come back to themselves after crossing a threshold between fabric, memory, and movement.

Act 2: When Clothes Become Language

The second act deepened the dialogue. David appeared in the Thakur Coat by Ka Sha. Its
Burgundy and ivory tones glowed softly in the light. His steps struck the floor with a powerful clarity, each tap echoing through the space and rising in our chests like a heartbeat. Valentina entered the Tantra Jacket by Ka Sha with Obidi’s Kati Black Velvet Trousers. Her movements carried a sense of anticipation, shifting direction with such fluid unpredictability that the room leaned into her presence, never quite knowing what would come next. Their movements gave the garments new form, and the fabrics responded with a life of their own.

Every motion carried meaning, and each piece of cloth revealed another layer of the story.

Threads of Strength and Softness

David returned alone in the Parigi Trousers and the Oscar Shirt in anthracite Cool Wool. Both pieces were crafted by House of Woven Stories in Piemonte. The lines were pure. The cuts were fluid. The wool moved like quiet water as his rhythm pulsed through the room. His taps were strong and controlled, drawing everyone into the energy beneath his feet.

Valentina wore the Carmen Blouse by Les Vacances d’Irina. The wide sleeves and soft linen cotton blend created a gentle presence, yet her movements held an exciting edge, shifting with a grace that made each moment feel new and unexpected. When the two dancers stood at opposite ends of the room, their movements formed a dialogue of energy and balance.

The Final Unfolding

For the final act, both dancers wore the Gorana Deep Teal Kimono Suit by House of Woven Stories. It was made from upcycled vintage silk saris and colored with the Shibori technique. The teal fabric shifted between light and shadow as they moved.

Their performance felt like a meditation on how clothing holds us, frees us, and moves with us. When stillness returned, the applause rose with warmth and feeling. The night had touched everyone in the room.

A Room Alive with Making

After the performance, our guests gathered in Loft19. There was candlelight, soft voices, and the scent of natural materials. They explored the rails of garments shaped in ateliers from Piemonte to India. They touched the fabrics and asked questions. Karin shared her knowledge about hand-stitched linings and antique silk sari interiors. It was not a display. It was a real exchange between artists and guests.

People stayed because the room carried a feeling of connection and discovery.

Pieces That Moved With Us

Some pieces left a strong impression. The Katharina Jacket was one of the favorites. It is
available in Velvet Burgundy Cotton, Grey Alpaca Wool, Pure Grey Cashmere, and Petrol Velvet Cotton. Each jacket is lined with hand-dyed antique silk saris. Each one is unique and reflects our belief in thoughtful craft.
The Tiflis Anthracite Coat from Piemonte also drew admiration. So did the Obidi Grid Kantha Jacket, hand-stitched in rhythmic patterns. The beeswax candles by Oberflacht became a quiet highlight as well. Each candle is handcrafted in the Black Forest, Germany, and shaped with great care.
Every creation carried the same spirit. It was beauty made with intention.

Reflection: A Night That Lingers

As the evening settled into memory, a gentle reflection remained with us. Dancing Nomad Stories offered more than a performance. It invited everyone in the room to pause, to feel, and to witness how movement, textiles, and human presence can shape a shared experience. It was a reminder that culture is not something distant. It is something we create together each time we gather, each time we choose to be present. This first chapter opened a doorway, and its echoes follow us into what comes next.

Verwoben. The Next Chapter

04 December 2025 | Oederlin Areal
From the Riverside Atelier to Loft19

Our second act unfolds under the theme “Verwoben” - Interwoven.

Dancer Valentina Pedica will return, joined by harpist and singer Noemi von Felten, whose blend of electronic harp and ethereal vocals creates soundscapes that shimmer between dream and presence.

Together, they will explore how movement, music, and textiles can dissolve boundaries and weave new forms of expression.

After the performance, guests are invited to an intimate apéro among our winter arrivals and handcrafted collections.

Carrying the Thread Forward

Dancing Nomad Stories was created to explore the quiet dialogue between rhythm and identity, between culture and craft, between emotion and form.
This first evening reminded us that expression lives not only in our bodies but also in what we choose to wear. Our clothes are companions. They speak with us. They carry our stories.
To everyone who joined us, thank you for bringing this chapter to life. To those who will join soon, we look forward to welcoming you.

In the Spirit of Gratitude and Connection

At House of Woven Stories, we honour the threads that unite craft and culture, makers and wearers. Every piece we create begins with human hands, but it comes alive through the people who gather with us.
Thank you for being part of this unfolding narrative. We carry your presence with us as we shape the next chapter.
